L'Albera
This natural site is situated on the southern slope of the Albera massif and comprises two well differentiated sectors. A western sector, Requesens-Baussitges, has central-European vegetation with wet woodlands of beech and oak; and the eastern Sant Quirze de Colera-Balmeta sector, more Mediterranean, is predominantly cork oak and scrub. This area is home to the last surviving populations of Hermann’s tortoise in the Iberian Peninsula.
