Dams have a twin function: to store water and to contain floods or freshets.
Dams, with derivations by means of sluices and channels, guarantee water to supply populations, for industrial use, for irrigation and to produce hydroelectric power.
A dam improves water capacity and availability to populations, guarantees flow for irrigation, stabilizes water supply in the territory, enables the use of clean and renewable energy and lessens the destructive effects of floods.
Since the 9th October the contents of the information on the reservoirs of the Hydrographic Confederation of the Ebre have been modified. The reservoirs of Mar Llac, Negre, Saburó and Tort have been eliminated and that of Rialb has been added.
